President's Budget Proposal Briefing Webinar |
On Thursday, March 6 at 2 p.m. ET, the Alliance will host its annual webinar on the President's fiscal year (FY) 2015 Budget Proposal. The Budget Proposal is expected to be released on Tuesday, March 4. The Budget Proposal reflects the Administration's funding priorities for the upcoming fiscal year and is meant to provide information and recommendations to Congress as it moves through the federal appropriations process.
The webinar will provide an overview of the federal budget process and an analysis of the President's FY 2015 Budget Proposal. Presenters from the Alliance will summarize and analyze the Administration's proposed funding levels for affordable housing and homelessness programs.
The Alliance will also launch its FY 2015 advocacy campaigns around increasing funding for HUD's McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants and homeless assistance programs within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Your Organization's Signature Needed! Help Increase FY 2015 Funding for HUD Programs
|
The Alliance has joined 740 other organizations in sending a letter to the leaders of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees to request that they provide as much overall funding as possible to the Appropriations Subcommittee that handles funding for the Departments of Transportation and HUD - known as the T-HUD Appropriations Subcommittee.
Now we need YOUR organization to join! The deadline for joining the letter is March 12.
Here's why it matters: Whatever overall amount of funding the T-HUD Appropriations Subcommittee receives will be divided up among all of the Transportation and HUD programs, including McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants, Section 8 Tenant-Based Rental Assistance, and many others. The larger the overall allocation, the better chance each HUD program has of receiving sufficient funding. We need as many organizations from across the country as possible to join this letter by March 12 in order to ensure as much overall funding for HUD programs as possible.
What You Can Do:
- Click here to read and sign the letter.
- Forward the link to local and state partners who work on housing and transportation issues and ask them to sign the letter, too!
More Information
Every year, the Appropriations Committee divides up the total amount available for federal funding among the 12 appropriations subcommittees, including T-HUD. These subcommittee allocations are known as 302(b) allocations. The T-HUD Appropriations Subcommittee will ultimately divide its 302(b) allocation up among all of the HUD and Transportation programs within its jurisdiction and set FY 2015 funding levels for each program. As a result, it is critical for the T-HUD 302(b) allocation to be as high as possible. This year, due to the Bipartisan Budget Act passed in December, Congress will have very little extra funding with which to work in FY 2015; therefore, it is particularly critical that we let Congress know how important it is to provide sufficient funding for HUD programs!
This letter is open to all local and state organizations - so join today!
