Federally Qualified Health Centers - Healthcare for the Uninsured

Did you know that Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) can provide free or low-cost care to people without health insurance?
FQHCs offer primary care services through community health centers, public housing centers, and outpatient health programs. Patients can pay what they can afford, based on their income.
FQHCs can provide:
- checkups when patients are well
- treatment when patients are sick
- prenatal care and services
- immunizations and checkups for children
- dental care and prescription drugs
- mental health and substance abuse care
People experiencing or at-risk of homelessness may qualify for health insurance in states that have expanded Medicaid. For the estimated 5 million who will remain without insurance, FQHCs – present in most cities, and in many rural areas – may be an excellent option for healthcare.
