Register today for Affordable Care Act 101: a webinar series presented by the Small Business Administration (SBA), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and Small Business Majority
Employee health care coverage continues to be an important issue for small businesses. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) offers a new way for small business owners to buy health insurance. It’s called the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) part of the new Health Insurance Marketplace. SHOP allows small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time equivalent employees to access health insurance through state-based health insurance marketplaces.

Who Should Attend?

Non-profit organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees are considered small businesses, under ACA. This means that small homeless service providers and HIV/AIDS service providers may be eligible to buy employee health insurance through the SHOP Marketplace.
Small business owners that buy insurance through the SHOP Marketplace may be able to claim a Small Business Health Care Tax Credit if they have less than 25 employees with average wages of $50,000 or less. The credit is available to both for-profit and non-profit employers.
The Affordable Care Act 101 webinar provides a basic overview of the ACA, as well as information on how small business owners can enroll in health insurance marketplaces. Other topics include insurance reforms, the small business health care tax credit, and employer shared responsibility provisions. SBA and HHS representatives help small business owners understand the facts of the ACA so they can make informed decisions about providing health insurance for their employees.

Registration Instructions

The Affordable Care Act 101 takes place every Thursday at 2 PM ET. The topics will generally be the same each week and include subjects such as cost containment, the Small Business Health Care Tax Credit, the new Health Insurance Marketplace, and Employer Shared Responsibility.
