Join the Voices of Recovery: Speak Up, Reach Out!

Thursday, September 4, 2014 | 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time

For the last 25 years, communities and individuals across the country have joined together in September to observe SAMHSA's National Recovery Month (Recovery Month) and celebrate the journey and achievements of the millions of Americans who are in recovery from a mental and/or substance use disorder.

This Thursday, SAMHSA, the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, and the Recovery Month Planning Partners will kick off the 25th annual National Recovery Month. The National Recovery Month 2014 press conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. eastern time and can be viewed virtually. Watch the kick-off event live where SAMHSA will release the latest national data on:

  • Prevalence of behavioral health conditions
  • Attempts, plans, and serious thoughts of suicide
  • Use of behavioral health treatment and services.

After the press briefing, stay tuned for live updates from the 2014 Recovery Month Luncheon, sponsored by NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, along with its partners, Entertainment Industries Council, Young People in Recovery, and the Association of Recovery Schools. Tune in to the live stream of the luncheon to take a look back through the history of the recovery movement and SAMHSA's National Recovery Month.

Get involved in Recovery Month 2014 and spread the word that prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover.
