Upcoming: Hepatitis C Prevention Opportunities Among People Who Inject Drugs: Confronting the Growing Epidemic Webinar - April 28, 2015, 1 PM EDT

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), reported cases of acute hepatitis C (HCV) have increased by 75% from 2010 to 2012 indicating an urgent need for HCV prevention information, tools, and strategies. This increase is especially pronounced among young people who inject drugs (PWID) after a history of oral opioid prescription drug abuse.
The HHS Office of HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease Policy invites you to register for this webinar that will highlight opportunities for HCV prevention among PWID. Webinar participants will learn about current HCV trends, new tools and prevention messages, and highlights of HCV prevention research among PWID, all of which can help stop the spread of viral hepatitis associated with drug use as prioritized by the Action Plan for the Prevention, Care and Treatment of Viral Hepatitis.
Guest speakers for this webinar include:
Jon Zibbell, PhD
Health Scientist and Medical Anthropologist
Prevention Branch, Division of Viral Hepatitis, CDC
Holly Hagan, PhD, MPH, RN
Co-Director, Center for Drug Use and
