Domestic Violence and Homeless Service System Coordination: A Call for Information
Making it easier to access immediate help is a central goal of coordinated entry. Another is to provide quick exits from shelter by matching and referring people to the most appropriate permanent housing interventions.

Does your community have established policies and procedures that have improved coordination between homeless service systems and domestic violence providers? If so, then the Alliance wants to hear from you.

If you have an experience you’d like to share or a successful strategy we should know about, take a few moments to fill out this brief survey and tell us about it. The Alliance will use this information to help shape the development of capacity building resources.

Attention Child Welfare Directors and Public Housing Agencies

FUP-FSS Demonstration to Help At-Risk Young Adults Transition to Adulthood

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is looking for Public Housing Agencies interested in strengthening partnerships with child welfare agencies to participate in a demonstration program with Family Unification Program (FUP) vouchers. Its aim? To prevent and end homelessness among youth aging out of foster care.

This program is designed to test whether combining stable housing through vouchers and financial capacity and asset building would improve outcomes for this population. It would also extend the time limit around housing and services offered to young people from the current 18-month statutory restriction on FUP for youth, to the length of the Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) contract (up to five years).

A webinar will be hosted by HUD and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. EST in order to provide more information on the program and the application process.
