Four things you can do now to prepare for the 2016 Continuum of Care NOFA |

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recently announced the remaining awards from last year’s Continuum of Care application. A lot of money moved around showing how competitive this process has become. Here are four things you can be doing now to get ahead of the next grant application.
1. Review your application from last year to identify places that need work.
2. Determine next steps with Coordinated Entry.
3. Reassess your review and ranking process.
4. Start gathering data now to evaluate system performance. |

TEXT OF funding bill INCLUDES $2.487B FOR HOMELESS ASSISTANCE |

On Tuesday, the House Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Subcommittee released the text of its $58.2 billion measure to fund the U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and related agencies in fiscal year (FY) 2017.
The subcommittee included $2.487 billion for McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants, a $237 million increase over FY 2016 funding, but $177 million below the Administration’s proposed FY 2017 level. The House THUD Subcommittee marked up this funding measure today, Wednesday, May 18.

On Thursday, May 12 the Senate took up on the floor their FY 2017 THUD spending bill. The Senate is expected to begin debating amendments to the package of the bill this week.

On May 17 we hosted an #AllianceQA Twitter chat on rapid re-housing landlord engagement. We were joined by representatives from the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness, Abode Services of CA, West Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness, Community Rebuilders of MI, the LA Homeless Services Authority and Friendship Place of DC. |
