The Overcoming Barriers to Housing Webinar Series, produced by SAMHSA's Homeless and Housing Resource Network (HHRN), offers guidance on helping individuals who are experiencing homelessness and behavioral health conditions overcome common barriers to accessing safe and affordable housing.
The second webinar in the series, Navigating Housing Programs for People Experiencing Homelessness, provides an overview of the programs and resources in place for providing housing to individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness. There are a number of programs that fund housing and services for people with behavioral health conditions experiencing homelessness, including those supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other federal, state and local agencies. The presenters will provide an overview of programs, discuss how they are funded and how they operate, and discuss who they serve.
The webinar will include presentations from the following speakers:
  • David Miller, Project Director of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD)
  • Marcy Thompson, Senior Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Special Needs for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
  • Patricia (Pat) Tucker, Senior Program Manager for Advocates for Human Potential, Inc
Additional webinars in the Overcoming Barriers to Housing Spotlight Series include the following:
    • April 13: Income Supports for People Experiencing Homelessness,
