SAMHSA Spotlights Association Between Chronic Illness and Depression in Youth Today, SAMHSA debuts several one-page "Spotlights" to accompany a major report on the association between a major depressive episode and chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and obesity. The full report and four "Spotlights" are being released in recognition of National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day (Awareness Day). This year's Awareness Day theme, "Partnering for Help and Hope," focuses on the importance of integrating behavioral health and primary care for children, youth, and young adults with mental and/or substance use disorders.
