JOIN US FOR THE FINAL INSTALLMENT OF THE RAPID RE-HOUSING FOR YOUTH LEARNING COMMUNITY The final meeting of the Rapid Re-Housing for Youth Learning Community will take place Tuesday, December 19 from 2:00–3:00 p.m. Eastern. This installment will feature the work of young leaders who are guiding their communities’ responses to youth homelessness and helping to create effective youth rapid re-housing programs. Register here >> DON’T MISS OUT: TRANSATLANTIC PRACTICE EXCHANGE APPLICATIONS ARE DUE DECEMBER 19 The Alliance and our partners in the United Kingdom are excited to open up a once-in-a-lifetime chance for mid-level homeless services professionals through the 2018 Transatlantic Practice Exchange. The Exchange aims to develop future leaders in the homelessness sector and establish transatlantic good practice connections. Five participants each from the US and UK will be selected to spend up to two weeks with a homelessness organization in their peer country to explore a practice area of interest. Applications are open now, and will be accepted through Tuesday, December 19. Apply here >> Center for Evidence-based Solutions to Homelessness The Center for Evidence-based Solutions to Homelessness is a new resource dedicated to synthesizing and explaining the key research insights needed to end homelessness. The Alliance partnered with Abt Associates to build the Evidence Base, a collection of research briefs that cover key areas in the study of homelessness, including children and families, chronic homelessness, rapid re-housing, veterans, and more. Visit the site >> New Report Documents Impact of the national Housing Crisis on People with Disabilities Priced Out, a new report by the Technical Assistance Collaborative and the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities Housing Task Force, explores the housing burden faced by millions of adults with disabilities living solely on Supplemental Security Income (SSI). In hundreds of higher-cost markets, average rents for modest housing are greater than a renter's entire monthly SSI payment. The report explores proven solutions, including federal rental assistance, to address this crisis.
