SAMHSA is accepting applications for up to $52 million in grants under its Treatment for Individuals Experiencing Homelessness program. The money will be used to help local service providers offer behavioral health and recovery support services to people experiencing homelessness.

SAMHSA is accepting applications for the Law Enforcement and Behavioral Health Partnerships for Early Diversion grant program totaling up to $13.4 million over the next five years. The purpose of the program is to establish or expand programs that divert adults with a serious mental illness or a co-occurring (mental and substance use) disorder from the criminal justice system to community-based services prior to arrest and booking.
SAMHSA is accepting applications for up to $17.4 million in grants under its Minority AIDS Initiative: Service Integration program. The purpose of the program is to integrate evidence-based, culturally competent mental and substance use disorder treatment with HIV primary care and prevention services.
In conjunction with the Presidential Public Health Emergency Declaration on October 27, SAMHSA announced a new Technical Assistance (TA) effort to focus on the specific needs of states and local jurisdictions to address the opioid crisis in their areas. Recently, SAMHSA released $12 million in funding to the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry to begin the effort to utilize local expertise to provide TA and training on scientifically based evidence-based practices to combat the nation's opioid crisis.

SAMHSA will hold a public listening session to solicit information concerning the Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records regulations (42 CFR Part 2) as required by Section 11002 of the 21st Century Cures Act (P.L. 114-255). This listening session is an opportunity to provide input concerning the effect of 42 CFR Part 2 on patient care, health outcomes, and patient privacy as well as potential regulatory changes and future sub-regulatory guidance.
