NOFA Announced for FY 2017 Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program |

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has released the much-anticipated Notice of Funding Announcement for the FY 2017 Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP).
The YHDP will select up to 11 communities, including at least five rural communities, to support in developing and implementing a coordinated community plan to prevent and end youth homelessness. |

A new guide from the Heartland Alliance helps community-based organizations and other employment service providers determine whether SNAP E&T funding is a good fit for their organizations, and whether their state is set up to partner with service providers to access this funding. |

Addressing the Root Causes of the Hepatitis A Outbreak in California |

A new article in the New England Journal of Medicine explores the recent Hepatitis A outbreak in California as a case study for using housing to improve public health. The author explains, “Health care providers understand that solving health problems involves not only treating symptoms, but also understanding and addressing root causes. The same approach is needed to end homelessness. Because health care providers must manage the enormous toll that homelessness takes on health, they have a role to play in bringing an end to the homelessness crisis.” |
