Streamlining Supportive Housing Production
California Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation to speed up the development of supportive housing across the Golden State. AB2162, Championed by Assemblymen David Chiu and Tom Daly, with strong support from CSH and Housing California, streamlines the approval process for housing developments that are 100% affordable with at least 25% of the units set aside for supportive housing. |

PFS Improving Healthcare Delivery
CSH selected three community providers to advance Pay for Success initiatives that deliver stable housing and improved medical and mental healthcare to people unhoused or leaving institutions who frequently use costly crisis services. "These grants, coupled with CSH technical assistance, set the stage to explore how communities can create more supportive housing by leveraging Pay for Success financing and contracting, using the private and philanthropic dollars that come with it," said Deborah De Santis, President and CEO of CSH. Aligning Housing and Health
CSH, the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities (CLPHA) and UnitedHealthcare Community & State are launching a cross-sector project: "Improving Health by Aligning Housing and Health Systems." This initiative, supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, provides the impetus for local and national partners to work together to improve health outcomes of Medicaid beneficiaries being served through managed care and living in federally assisted housing, including units within Public Housing Authorities. Five communities -- Columbus and Akron, Ohio; Houston and Austin, Texas; and King County/Seattle, Washington -- have been selected to receive assistance. |

Healthcare Learning Collaboratives
CSH is a technical assistance provider through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), promoting strategies for health centers to improve healthcare access, housing stability and outcomes for patients experiencing homelessness. 2019 Indiana Supportive Housing Institute
CSH is seeking applicants for the tenth Indiana Supportive Housing Institute. The Institute will help supportive housing partners navigate the complex process of developing housing with supportive services to prevent and end homelessness. Targeted training, technical assistance, and the opportunity to apply for pre-development financing for both new and experienced development teams are available to Institute participants. In addition, industry experts, including staff from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA), will provide insight on property management, financing, and building design. |

Ensuring Safe Housing for Survivors
When providing supportive housing to families involved in the child welfare system with histories of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, or sexual assault, there are special considerations for family safety, assisting with child welfare goals, and ensuring access to safe, affordable housing. In recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our One Roof effort has published Considerations when Providing Supportive Housing to Child Welfare Involved Families with a History of Domestic Violence, a new resource to promote the safety and security of families in supportive housing. |

MSW Students Gain First-Hand Experience
CSH hosts the Homeless Services & Supportive Housing Provider Internship Placement Program in Los Angeles, pairing Masters in Social Work (MSW) students with our local nonprofit partners and supportive housing providers. CSH holds monthly trainings for the interns to supplement their classroom and field learning with homeless services specific content.
