Job Purpose: Under the supervision of the Director of Program Operations, the
Shelter Manager supports the mission of the Eastside Family Emergency
Shelter. The Shelter Manager oversees the daily operation of a 24hr/7day per
week, 250 bed emergency shelter for families and single women.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Overseeing daily operation of the shelter including management of all
staff, volunteers and residents.
·
Participating in the evaluation of residents and working closely with
case managers to ensure compliance with individual plans and goals
· Supervising schedules and
evaluating support staff.
· Assessing staffing needs
· Planning and coordinating
appropriate training.
·
Assisting the Director of Program Operations, administering and
controlling the shelter operating budget.
· Developing and managing
appropriate reporting mechanisms to maintain financial records.
·
Preparing reports and statistical documents in accordance with local,
state, and federal mandates.
· Overseeing the shelter’s
Human Management Information System (HMIS).
·
Providing oversight to the Kitchen Manager in planning, purchasing
and preparing resident meals in
compliance with the State of Maryland regulations.
· Maintaining and
establishing communications with community partners and volunteers.
· Working with building
management to report and resolve building maintenance issues.
·
Developing and updating the Shelter Resident Guide and chore list;
oversees the compliance of shelter residents.
· Managing shelter office
and preparing general correspondence as needed.
· Participating in community
relations and fundraising activities

Skills/Qualifications:
Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree
required. Master’s Degree preferred. Experience working with homeless or
at-risk populations. Strong management
experience may substitute for part of education requirement. Other skills/qualifications
include:
· Effective interpersonal,
verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong administrative and
organizational skills.
· Ability to work under pressure.
· Strong computer skills and
proficient in Microsoft Office.
· Ability to understand
financial documents.
Valid State of Maryland driver’s license and own transportation required
