The Office of Affordable Housing Programs (OAHP) is pleased to announce the availability a new HOME Project Profile. Cornelius Place, located in Washington County, Oregon, is a newly built mixed-use development that includes 45 new affordable apartments for low-income seniors, offering studio, one-, and two-bedroom units. The project was developed on city-owned land. This development is unique in that the housing is situated in the two stories above the Cornelius Public Library. The building also has a community room for seniors to socialize and participate in educational classes as well as a YMCA center. The project presents multigenerational synergies – not only are the senior apartments located above the library, the library is located across the street from an elementary school. The HOME Project Profiles showcase projects or programs for each of the HOME activity types: rental, homebuyer, homeowner rehabilitation, and Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) that are innovative and/or replicable, and highlight the best of what partnerships between federal, state, local governments, and communities can build.
